Welcome to the blog
Summary shown in the listing.
This typical Patagonian ranch is located 135 km (84 miles) north of the city of Punta Arenas and is named after the river that runs through the property.
The excursion begins along the Strait of Magellan, one of the most fascinating interoceanic navigation routes, before venturing into the vast Patagonian steppe, home to birds such as the ñandú, carancho, bandurria, and Chilean flamingo, among others. Along the way, you’ll pass by several ranches that have played a key role in the region’s development. Upon arrival at Estancia Penitente, the ranch staff will welcome you with a cocktail reception and invite you to tour the main house and learn about the history of this pioneering family. Afterwards, you’ll enjoy a delicious Patagonian barbecue.
As an option, you can visit the Shearing Shed, which is reached by a short hike. There, you can see the various tools used in sheep shearing (please note, no shearing is performed during the visit).
