Torres Del Paine Excursion

The excursion begins with a visit to the Milodon Cave, a remarkable cavern measuring 200 meters long, 30 meters high, and 80 meters wide, located 25 km (16 mi) from Puerto Natales. A moderate one-hour hike will take us inside the cave, known for the discovery of fresh skin and bones from a prehistoric species of giant sloth, the milodon.
Remains of other extinct animals have also been found there, such as the dwarf horse and the saber-toothed tiger.
We then continue toward Cerro Castillo, where we stop at a café, and afterwards proceed to Torres del Paine, crossing numerous ranches and landscapes transitioning from steppe to deciduous forest. Along the way, it is possible to spot local wildlife, including the ñandú (South American rhea) and the guanaco, a wild camelid.
Torres del Paine is world-renowned for the massive granite peaks that give it its name—giants sculpted by the force of glacial ice.
Upon entering the park, we discover a series of intensely colored lagoons, ice-covered mountains, and abundant local wildlife. We then stop for a 20-minute hike to Salto Grande waterfall on the Paine River.
After lunch, we continue to Grey Lake, where we take a walk to a panoramic viewpoint from which you can admire the icebergs and the glacier of the same name.
Finally, the return to Puerto Natales is made via the same route or along the road that borders Lakes Toro, Porteño, and Sofía.
